Who Is The Protagonist In The Tell Tale Heart

In the story “The Tell-Tale Heart,” by Edgar Allen Poe, the protagonist killed the old man because he thought he had an eye that was watching him. The protagonist is a calculated killer because went into the man's room every night at 12 and he planned how to dispose of the man's body. One of the reasons the main character is a calculated killer because he planned to go into the man's room every night at 12. The text states “And I did this for seven, long night every night, just at midnight” (Poe par. 4). This proves the narrator is a calculated killer because he gathered information about how the old man slept. Another example that proves the main character is truly mad is when he cuts off the hands and the arms and the legs. In the scene when
the narrator kills the man the narrator says “I cut off the head the arms and the legs” (Poe par. 13). This proves the narrator is a calculated killer because he was getting ready to place the hands, arms, and legs into the floor so that no one would see the remain. The narrator in The Tell-Tale Heart is a calculated killer because he cut the body parts off and carefully placed it in a place where he could not get caught, and every night at midnight he snuck into the old man's room. This shows he is a calculated killer because discreetly hid and found out patterns of the old man.
