Who Is To Blame For Mrs Mallard's Death

Imagine being told news that would flip your world upside down, such as someone close to you dying. You begin to plan how your life will be without them, for better or for worse. If you imagine your life for the better, you begin to psych yourself up about it. Now imagine walking into your living room one day only to find the person who was presumed dead standing in front of you. Not only would your world be flipped upside down once, it would once again. That is basically what happened to Mrs. Mallard, a lady with a heart disease, who literally died of shock when her husband stood before her days after being presumed dead in a train wreck, although he was completely oblivious that there was even a wreck. Many would claim that Mrs. Mallard died simply of shock from seeing her husband alive, I believe there is more reasons behind it: I argue that Mr. Mallard was an abusive husband and their marriage wasn’t very strong and although Mrs. Mallard loved him, his death was her escape from the toxic marriage and when she saw him alive, the shock that she wasn’t truly free was enough to kill her due to her weak heart from her heart disease.

For example the story says, “She sat with her head thrown back upon the cushion of the chair, quite motionless, except when a sob came up into her throat and shook her, as a child who has cried itself to sleep continues to sob in its dreams.” Normally, those who had just lost their husband would be hysteric, screaming, crying, but she only had a slight sob. She just sat motionless, not making a sound, almost the exact opposite of what most would
