Who moved my cheese
"Who moved my Cheese?"
This is a great tool to use as a coach, teacher, or mentor. The author uses characters that the reader can associate with in problems that occur in life. He creates a picture where life was good and plentiful at first. He shows the readers how some characters stayed alert and notice changes in the food source and others that carried on in the same daily routine that eventually lead to not having any more food. Eventually one of the characters decided to humble himself and realize that the problem of not having any good was not going to take care of itself. There had to be some work on his part which meant going out and doing something about it, instead of drowning in self-pity like his friend. This is an example of self-evaluating one’s self and making positive change. Negative energy creates negative reactions to situations. By the character stepping out on faith and embracing the unknown, he found strength within himself which made his spirit stronger. It showed him how to believe in himself. The longer his journey was in the search of finding more food, the more he motivated himself and it increased his knowledge of his surroundings.
Eventually he finds a food source that was plentiful and had a variety cheeses. It also leads him to other characters that adapted to change and who could in the future have a positive influence on life instead of being around the character who is stuck into what’s going on right now.
We use to live in a society where a person needed to look for a job that they could get hired on at 18 years old and retire from that organization at age 65. In today's society individuals must be willing to constantly learn and use situational awareness. I use the famous saying in the Clint Eastwood movie "Heartbreak Ridge" when he tells his Marine Recon personnel to adjust and adapt. My dad would always and to this day express how important it is to stay current with technology and education. I

The story involves four characters who live in a maze: the mice Scurry and Sniff, and two 'little people', Hem and Haw. All is going well because they have found a huge source of their favorite food, cheese. Hem and Haw have even moved their houses to be near it and it has becomes the center of their lives. But they do not notice that it is getting smaller, and are devastated when they arrive at the site one morning and find the cheese is gone. The mice, Sniff and Scurry possessed simple rodent brains but good instincts searched for the hard nibbling cheese they liked. In contrast, the two little people Hem and Haw, used brains filled with many believes and emotions to search for a different kind of cheese which they believed would make them feel happy and successful. This is where the story splits in two. Scurry and Sniff quickly accept the loss of the cheese and go off into the maze in search of other sources. The little people, because they have built their lives around the big cheese, feel they are the victim of some kind of fraud or theft. Yet this only makes things worse, as their clinging on ensures that they go hungry. Meanwhile, the mice move on and find new cheese.…

Throughout time, people have had to go through change. Whether it had been moving to a new city or starting a new job, people all around the world have to deal with it. Every person that has endured change has had their own way to handle it. Some people complain and fail to comply with the fact that change will happen and others strive to be a part of the future to come. Dr. Spencer Johnson took note of this when he wrote “Who Moved My Cheese.” This simple story demonstrated the ways that many people deal with change. Using evidence from the story, I have to come to the conclusion that the best way to deal with change is the same way the Sniff and Scurry did, immediately adapt when change comes.…

In this book, it explains the distress and grief these slaves had to face in their everyday lives. There is ten slaves and each of them wrote their own story about what they had to face each and everyday. For example, one of the slaves is Frederick Douglass. He was the most famous African American of the nineteenth century. This book, sets back into the eighteen hundreds and kids at eight years old would be taken away from their loved ones and were put to work like cattle by their new possessor. For example, Frederick Douglas at the age of eight was taken from his mother without even saying goodbye. Douglas had to call his new controller Aunt Kathy or he would get a flogging. He explains the misery he had to sustain and how many times he was beaten or punished to starve. For example, he wrote about his new owner Kathy, “The cheerful eye, under the influence of slavery, soon became red with rage; the voice, made all of sweet accord changed to one harsh and horrid discord; and that angelic face gave place to that of a demon”. (Taylor, 2005, p. 58). Each slave at the end of their story explains their after life. He felt as if the life he was living previously was toxic, and wanted to live the life he knew was created for him. He explains,” No longer to be poisoned by civilization he flees and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild”. It is evident that he thought that society was “poison” and that the boundless Alaskan wilderness would be his remedy. Living in the wild, he was able to learn life lessons by following his heart and personal intuition: “ That if one advances confidentially in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life in which he imagined, and he will meet with a success unexplained in common hours.” The most important lesson he perhaps learned was that you are going to miss an opportunity if you do not keep your eyes open. His dream of being independent of life’s demands was fulfilled by him keeping his eyes open. As a result he was able to hunt, explore, and challenge himself in the most excruciating…

The novel I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier makes use of many sophisticated narrative and textual features as well as a twisting plotline. Due to this, many teenage readers find this novel confusing, pointless and unenjoyable. However there are a number of teenage readers who relate to, understand and even enjoy this novel. There are numerous reasons for this. The reasons for young adults not enjoying this novel are use of complicated narrative structure, textual features, vocabulary and the etymology of this, the context of this novel and the ever-changing plot. The reasons why I Am the Cheese should not be considered a mind-boggling, deliberately confusing detective story with no real ‘solution’ are its targeted audience, its purpose, plot and its benefits.…

    Who Moved My Cheese

The message from the book Who Moved My Cheese was that if you want something in life you have to go out and get it and that no one hand is going to hand it to you. Meaning there will be changes in your life and you have to be willing to accept it; and not be afraid of the word change. Because if you're not willing to open up to change life will pass you by without looking back. The character I can say I identify the most is the mouse which was Haw. My reason for saying this is because Haw was a person who wasn't willing to accept change at first because his friend kept telling him how he didn't want to accept it because he was scared and that Hem kept saying how there was nothing better out there for them. So instead of Haw doing what he wanted to do he kept listening to his friend and not his heart. But at the end he was starting to open up to change, and he saw that change was good for him. I would have to say my cheese is my future goal which is to be a physical therapist assistant. However I can't be a Haw anymore I have to be a Scurry who sees what's needed and take action to it immediately. I can't just sit around and not think I'm going to become a PTA by being a Haw who takes their time opening up to change when I need to be willing to open to it a little quicker. The character I can relate to someone I know is Hem. I can relate Hem to someone is because they wasn't willing to accept change at all. They were the best athlete in high school, and everyone looked up to them. But when it was time for them to graduate from high school and attend college she was so excited because she was going to try-out for the basketball team. Until the day it finally came to try-out, the coaches were giving plays to run and she didn't run them because she use to come up with her own plays like in high school; and her coach would run them and she felt like she was in charge all…

My impression of “Who Moved My Cheese?” By Spencer Johnson, M.D. is completely positive. The author gives an extremely motivational narrative discussing change. Johnson’s did a wonderful job illustration his thoughts with this book. “Who Moved My Cheese?” Can be read by any person in any industry and the story line is just as impactful and encouraging. The writer provides the reader an understanding that anticipating, acknowledging and embracing changing can and will ultimately yield successful results. On the contrary, not anticipating, acknowledging and embracing change can ultimately lead to a person being left behind and missing out on opportunities or becoming obsolete. The Author did a nice job explaining complications experienced in the process and expressing the fear of change. I can relate to these theories since I have seen first-hand how my industry changes in just a short period of time. It is not always easy to adapt to the change and being resistant will only cause added stress to your everyday.…
