I would use this book as a springboard to promote weekly lessons regarding self-esteem. Providing it is permissible to copy the pictures from the book, I would create a weekly bulletin board. For example, I would start with Lawrence the Lion and his virtue of courage. Throughout the week, I would refer to Lawrence, discuss the word courage and find visual examples to post on the board. Another example, is Buddy Beaver, whose character quality is to take care of the world around him. We would talk and find ways we could all better to the…

“Take This Fish and Look at it*” by Samuel H. Scudder is the most compelling essay for this week’s reading assignment because the author wrote in an organized, laughable tone; therefore, allowing its audience to perceive the lesson as the professor intended it to be learned. Likewise, Scudder used three different apparent modes in his essay, these include: comparison / contrast, narrative, and description. I particularly liked this essay because it relates to the great significance that in every scenario, even writing, that things can be overlooked and need to be re-examined to find better, more sufficient details. Scudder also uses humor throughout his narrative, which compared to some essays, is quite enjoyable. Overall, every individual…

Some children have difficulties finding a good book to relish. I did not typically have a hard time. I enjoyed reading my entire elementary school life. I used to enjoy reading books because I felt I was strong at it; now I cannot find any books that interest me the way they used to. During my kindergarten year, my mother bought the “Hooked on Phonics” set. “Hooked on Phonics” is a tool for children to learn how to read. I did not need the extra help, but my parents did not think the extra help was the worst idea. It had a series of levels and learning difficulties. All my siblings partook in this reading tool.…
