Introduction
Who Moved My Cheese, by Ken Blanchard is one of the best books on change management. It is one of the best books available in the market that has been able to give a fresh perspective to life of many people. In this paper, we will talk about how this book has been able to create a motivational effect in many people by building a tale around the four characters. The focus of this paper is to discuss the book in detail and at the same time, discuss the learning from the book.
The purpose of this book is to give a fresh perspective on life and at the same time, is suitable for people of all age groups. In fact, the book has already made it to the New York Times business bestsellers list and stayed there for five years. At the same time, the book also remained on the Publishers Weekly’s hardcover non-fiction list for close to four years.
The characters in the book, the four mice, Sniff, Scurry, Hem and Haw are the four characters in this story. The author mentioned that the find a cheese station and they continued to relish it daily before coming to realise that the cheese is gone one fine day. Post this, the ways in which each of them react to the situation is where the author gives a clear message about change management by their attitude towards life.
The author uses cheese as a metaphor for all that people want in life: a great job, good health, abundant wealth, lasting love, and everything else in between. In fact, the author by the attitude of these characters says how to deal with life. For instance, while Haw believes that someone has moved their cheese, they did not realise the fact that they have consumed all of it.
