Basically David betrayed the lord he sinned with adultery. He had a man killed to take his wife and conceive a son. David did not fight his own war either instead stayed in jerusalem where he was safe and sound. He could have had any woman but instead he went to someone who was already marred which is a no no witht the Lord. David then was confronted by Nathan. The Lord was very angry he cursed him told him all his wives will sleep with other men in daylight not in secret. Also, that his future child, would die. He begged and pleaded with the Lord but the lord had already gave the word.…
Peter the Great was born on June 9th, 1672 in Moscow, Russia. He was the Tsar of Russia in the late 17th century. Most people know him for turning Russia into a great nation with many aggressive Domestic reforms. There is controversy over whether or not he was actually “Great”. Peter deserves "the Great" after his name because his actions, though extreme, helped developed Russia into a world power.…
A crime that David is actually accused of in the Bible is adultery. Other crimes that later scholars have put on his hands are that of murder. He is now being blamed for the death of the heirs of the throne who had coincidentally died at the right time in order for David to gain power of the throne.…
In this assessment, I will talk about whether King John was really as bad as people say he was by looking carefully at different sources and evidence.…
This essay is about who should have been king in 1066. Edward the Confessor died on 5th January 1066. The King of England was usually the son or another close relation of the previous king. Edward had no children or any surviving brother or sister. There were four people waiting to be the next king. They were Edgar Etheling, Harold Godwinson, William Duke of Normandy and Harald Hadrada. Only one of the four people could be the King of England at any one time.…
His righteous indignation turned into ill-controlled anger, revenge, and unhealthy ambition that brought grief to David and the untold suffering of innocent people. Be wary of righteous indignation becoming something you do not intend. We grieve the Holy Spirit when we go the “way of Absalom,” and when we reject the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:25-31). As a Church Father noted: By despising God’s words of instruction we grieve the Holy Spirt, and the Holy Spirit leaves us to our own self-will, but then God’s work in us is cut short (Ambrosiaster).…
One of King Hammurabi’s lasting legacies is the inception of written laws, beginning with The Code of Hammurabi, circa 1800 BCE. Arguably, this diorite stele set forth precedents that to some degree, still hold true today such as equal retaliation as well as protection against the most vulnerable from the injustices of mobocracy and tyranny. He addressed various aspects of Babylonian life through the code, including marriage, agriculture, social strata and consequences for violating the code. Hammurabi considered himself a benevolent dictator; vowing to never undermine the laws he had established despite his status as king, and ruled with an iron fist with justification from the Gods. By making these laws public knowledge to every civilian,…
King Philip II of Spain was murdered, but by who? With a sum of at least 20 suspects that would have strong reasoning to kill him, who did it? He was found poisoned in bed early one morning, his murderer escaped his castle never to be found. However, upon further investigation, 10 highly interesting clues were found in a burlap sack stuffed behind a statue of the Virgin and Child. Those clues consisted of: A map from Orelius’ Typus Orbus Terrarum, keys to manacles, silver coins, potatoes, Las Casas’ Apologetic History, Elizabeth I’s speech at Tilbury, a Holy Bible in Dutch, Columbus’ Journal, Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises, and a note saying, “It’s working, my friends…”.…
The question as to whether King John was really the worst king ever, stills seems to be a topic of much controversy amongst historians, as they have not yet come to an exact decision on which side of the argument to deem as the truth. Some people believe that King John is to be blamed for the fate that he suffered because of certain decisions he made and brought himself to his state in the society through his actions; however, those who disagree, claim that it was simply his misfortune and that the events that came about were inevitable and were supposed to happen at some point in history, which had to unfortunately be during the reign of King John. Let's look more closely into the matter to see which side of the argument should be supported……
Is Alexander the Great, great?? Alexander the Great was born around July 20th, B.C.E. Well we can see there is a “Great” in the name up at the title. Did you know he did a lot of very bad stuff, but he did do lots of great things. He conquered lots of places and was successful against all of them. Philip II was assassinated in 336 B.C.E. People think that it may have been Alexander and his mother, but don’t worry about that example. Read more about Alexander the Great.…
James I was a very educated man, well read in theology and political theory. Having taken over the Scottish throne at the age of thirteen months, one can think that when he started ruling England he was more than enough prepared for being a king. However, I should say that to me he was neither a good nor a bad king since he took some good and wrong decisions during his reign.…
I think that even though he was good at some points during his reign and at other times thoroughly terrible, he was mainly unlucky.…
Great literature is enduring. Enduring literature is loved for generations because it deals with enduring themes. It deals with themes that touch our common humanity; themes that enlighten our understanding and broaden our experience. Sometimes these literary works take the form of narrative – even fictional stories. No matter the form, if it is a noble work, it will endure. We all like stories, maybe because we are all a part of the greatest story ever told. I believe it is this that makes Beowulf such an enduring classic. Even though its author is unknown, his work has been loved and celebrated since its birth in the mid-seventh or late tenth century. Beowulf endures because it deals with the most noble, enduring theme of all; salvation. Beowulf, like King David, was a Christ figure, and both, though figures of great courage who were saviors in their own right, point to the Savior of Mankind, Christ himself.…
