Mughal and Safavid were a few of the strongest empires in their time. These empires shared many similarities, but one major similarity is their political structures. The Safavid and Mughal both had a centralized government, based on military conquest, and were both Muslim based empires. But like many things these two empires do have differences, they were both in different regions, overall population was different, and the branch of Islam they followed was separate.…
The Mongols were a nomadic people until 1206, when they acknowledged Temujin as the supreme leader, Genghis Khan. A huge empire was created under his rule, linking Eastern and Western Eurasia. An analysis of these documents will discuss the topic of how the Mongols expanded their empire so far in such a short time through their power of violence. This analysis will also show the admiration and respect of the Mongols by others in surrounding regions. Ultimately, this analysis will discuss how the fear from other people gave the Mongols their biggest advantage in conquering other regions to expand their enormous empire.…

The Persians had a very good government. Before Persia became known as the largest empire in the world in its time period they were not unified. It wasn't until 522 B.C. that the Persian Empire became unified. Emperor Darius accomplished the real unification of this empire. Darius set up a government that was then used as a template for later rulers. He then divided the Persian Empire into section; a government official called a satrap headed each of these sections. The satraps were usually Persian and the people inside the local government were non-Persians. His government was a monarchy (kings/queens) and it was a centralized government. According to the economy and the wealth of each province, determined how much taxes would cost for that year. Like the great King Hammurabi, Darius adopted rules and laws from the people in which he conquered. Darius then drew a single code of laws in which the people within the empire had to abide by.”He did not abolish the existing laws of individual lands or peoples, nor did he impose a uniform law code on his entire empire.”(Bentley and Ziegler 170) .…
Great leadership early on in the Muslim empires helped maintain dominance.According to Ogier Ghiselin de Busbecq,Suleiman the Magnificent, who was the Ottoman Sultan from 1520-1560 ,chose leaders and high ranked officials based on how their work ethics are."Those who receive the highest offices from the Sultan...do not believe that high qualities are either natural or hereditary... but are partly a gift of God,and are partly result of good training..."Which shows that the empires chose leaders and high ranked officials are chosen very strictly ,which led to great leaders in the dynasties.(Doc.3) Abdul ul-Qadir Bada' uni was a Muslim cleric who wrote about how the emperor Akbar the Great,Mughal ruler from 1556 CE to 1605 CE, who further educated himself from different perspectives, from Brahmans,Priest,Buddhist monks and many…

From World War II till his overthrow the Shah of Iran was a close ally with the United States and was one of the bases from which U.S. policy in the Middle East was built. Many times he was at odds with eight different U.S. Presidents over his social and economic reforms and refusal to grant political freedom. In a riot in 1963 the Shah arrested and exiled opposition leaders, one of those leaders was Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. From 1963 to 1979 the Shah spent billions of dollars on military weapons which loss him the support of the people. Not willing to give democratic freedoms and unable to make economic progress the Shah fled on 16 January 1979, during a revolution in Iraq. (2)…
Persia’s rise to power began with the marriage between a Persian and a Median. Cyrus, the son of a powerful Persian chief, married a Median princess. The Medes had been the first to achieve a complex political organization in Central Asia near western Iran. The Persians eventually overthrew the Median monarch but maintained the framework of the Median government. In Persian society the warrior was dominant. Over the course of two decades the Persian rulers and their armies redrew the map of western Asia from Anatolia to Mesopotamia and as far as the Indus region. Cyrus and his successors used the traditions of the local people and the creation of a new organizational structure to maintain control of their empire. (103-104)…
The leaders of the Mongol Empire were definitely better at some aspects of ruling than others. One section they are known for is their violence and rapacity in their military. However, the Mongol’s violence brought more harm than good when compared to the economic practices of the empire.…
There were many aspects concerning the history of Iran that showed that the coup was a bad idea. The role of religion played a very influential part in the history of Iran. Many people living in Iran still to this day believe in the Zoroastrian religion. The beliefs associated with this religion may account for many of the uprisings and political protests aimed at the Shah and his power. This religion taught Iranians that they "have an inalienable right to enlightened leadership and that the duty of subjects is not simply to obey wise kings but also to rise up against those who are wicked" (20). Many thought that the Shah was a terrible leader, and that he would continue to sell out his country to foreigners for the right amount of money. I believe that Mossadegh also believed this, and that he used this Zoroastrian belief to do so. The Shah did not have farr, because he did not act or behave morally. Even Shiism, which came about long after the religion of Zoroastrian, believes that rulers may hold the…

An interesting case that was currently brought before the Supreme Court was Missouri vs. Frye. I found this case interesting due to the injustice that was provided by Frye’s counsel, and that Frye insisted on committing the same crime over and over again even though he knew he had an open case concerning driving under a suspended license. There were many sources and jurisdictions related to criminal law that also relates to this case. Criminal liability is when one takes responsibility for committing a crime, and accomplice liability is when someone helps someone commit a crime. Actus reus means guilty act, mens rea means guilty mind, and concurrence means the equality of rights. Actus reus and mens rea are both necessary in order for a defendant to prove criminal liability.…
