The ALA bans books for bad language, sexual themes, and much more. If it was not for the ALA we would not have the entire subject of a banned book, but it is so I am here. The book that I am doing is the art of racing in the rain. This book doesn’t have much in it to get it banned but for the little that is in it got it banned. But this has been the loom on what I think about this book getting banned.…

We all learned in elementary school that the suns provide nutrients and components that help plans grow. “As the name implies, photosynthesis is a process that uses light energy to synthesize something.” (Mauseth, 2014) That process is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process where plants use light energy from the sun. If we break the word up photo has the definition of light and synthesis means putting together. It provides the necessary sources of energy that both animals and plants need to survive. There are important factors that help photosynthesis, water, light and carbon dioxide. Throughout this essay we will discuss the equation that is associated with photosynthesis, main energy carrying molecule, reactants and products of light reactions and photosynthesis in the Calvin cycle.…
In today’s society the biggest reason for book banning is based on protecting moral values set in place in the home. Well meaning teacher, parents, and other would be censors worry that by exposing the nation’s youth to concepts such as sex, drugs, and alcohol they will start experimenting with these things. Ultimately they fear the breakdown of the moral values emphasized in the home. This is especially true for conservative Christians, in the past ten years books such as J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series and, Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials have caused a great deal of controversy among conservative Christians. The idea of magic, alternate and parallel universes is not a popular one among Conservative Christians. But does this really warrant all out banning books such as these? Most would say no, the ideals of a certain group should not determine what the rest of the population reads.…
Somebody who agrees with my definition of a banned book is the author of the article, Banned Books by Borgna Brunner. Brunner says “The First Amendment of the Constitution guarantees our right to free speech, which includes…
For me personally, books should not be banned because it is basically censoring someone else's art. Writers or authors have the right to publish whatever they want. They are just books. People should not get all worked up over a piece of literature. Especially schools. Schools across the country in different time periods banned the novel for the reasons being that it is too vulgar, sexual, and violent for kids to read. (“Banned Book: The Catcher in the Rye”)…
Often times, books become banned in the classroom because of the controversial content that it contains. Once a book is banned, it becomes removed from the shelves of libraries, book stores, and classrooms. In some cases, banned books have been burned or refused publication. There are several reasons why books are banned, but books are most frequently banned because of the prejudiced opinions about religion, sexual orientation, and race. In school, children are taught to be mature and to not laugh at gross scenes; Children are also taught to not make commentary about the book when inappropriate content exists or if there are controversial topics. Are…
Not all books that are banned should be but there are some that I see good reasoning for why it has been banned. In my opinion the book I read shouldn’t be banned, but I do see why some readers feel that it should, in the book there is some violence that might be disturbing to a young reader. Also to some young readers they may find the book to be scary. Even with these other points I am still against banning this book and many other books. I encourage anyone who dislikes a book or finds it inappropriate to think about their decision before challenging or banning a…
Books all over America are in danger. Books, objects that allow imagination and the expansion of the mind and the world around one, are often times subject to criticism and even bannings when any one person does not like the content. Books bannings should not be done whatsoever, let alone become a semi-common practice. Of course, bannings only occur after careful consideration. Or do they? Censorship is a growing problem in America, as parents and other authority figures ban various types of books in their community when content is too “edgy” or “age inappropriate”, and these are often gone through without the book so much as being opened. However, in all reality, what might be “wrong” for one child may be just right for another. Are book…
Um I have no idea who would agree on banning books, but I don’t agree on banning books. But anyway this is not a good thing to ban books, well one reason is. But the other reasons isn’t, like banning good and interesting books. No, hmmm things aren’t…
Many of these classic stories have been banned because of sexual references, racial slurs, religious intolerance, or supposed witchcraft promotion. Although some may consider these books controversial or inappropriate, many English classes have required their students to read these books (About banned). It should be believed that even controversial books could ultimately boost, not deter, our educational wealth. Book banning should be opposed for three main reasons: education should be open to everyone, citizens should have access to the press, and, lastly, parents should monitor what their own children read and not what other children can obtain. For these reasons, I conclude that the government should play no role in what books any age group can obtain.…
Books have a numerous amount of ways to get banned. Book banning can cause the books not to be presented in certain places. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, was banned and challenged due to inappropriate language, rape, sexually explicit, racism, and not appropriate for certain age groups.…
Banning books may have a negative outcome for children, taking so much away that they could have learned. Minors should not be held in the dark from the appalling aspects in life. As they grow older, they will not be secured away from the real world. Adults may want to shield their kids from taking in “explicit” or “dirty” knowledge, yet eventually, children get older and become much more exposed to the details of the true world, not just from books. Books could very well have explicit content or profanity, but keeping those away from the younger children shouldn’t be a large deal; there is no need for them to be “banned”. There are several other ways for one’s mind to obtain this kind of knowledge, and no one’s lifting a finger to ban…
Before driving a car, you must learn first what road signs, colors, and sign shapes mean. You need to learn what the different road signs mean and what they look like. There are many signs which you must follow in order to get to your destination. It is very important that you learn all these before actually driving. Another thing you must know is which lane you must drive in and how to turn into a lane. The reason is because you cannot get into a car without knowing what to do while on the road. In order to drive a car you must first take drivers training, if you have never driven a car. Then you take a written test that includes all the information you have learned about the road. But, for now learning about signs and colors is the basic steps to learning how to drive.…
When a group of people cause a book to be censored or banned, they are forcing what they believe is correct, appropriate, or acceptable on other people whose beliefs may be different. If a book is censored or banned because of a group of people, then that group is telling other people what they can and can not read. Also, just because some people do not like a particular book does not mean that they should keep other people from reading it because they do not agree with the topics implied by the author. A final reason it forces beliefs on other people is by getting a book censored or banned, it is telling people that the message the author is trying to portray is immoral or wrong, and people should not be exposed to such ideas. These reasons are important because people can decide for themselves what they believe is right and wrong. The beliefs of others do not need to forced on everyone else. Those in favor of censoring or banning books may…
