Why Do Books Be Banned
Many people read and enjoy R.L. Stine books such as the goosebumps series and the fear street series. Even though many people love to read R.L. Stine books some of his books are still banned. Many parents have agreed that these books are not appropriate for children of certain age levels. When it comes down to it, it is the parents’ choice on what their child reads, but that doesn’t mean the book should be banned so that no child can read it without going to a place where the book isn’t banned. This is why I think banning these books is bad. For my banned book I chose to read “Cheerleaders the Third Evil” and do I think this book should be banned? No, I do not. In this book it does describe some violence but nothing worse than what kids are seeing on television. Why would you ban this book for violence or being “too scary” as some would say

when in my opinion it is neither. There may be some children who find it scary but if they do then they should know not to read it. Some children do not find these books scary or violent and by banning this book you could be ruining their opportunity to read this book. Another reason I am against banning this book is it shouldn’t be someone other than your parent deciding what you read.
Some parents may think it is not healthy for their child but it’s not their place to decide what is healthy for everyone else’s children. Many children enjoy reading this book and many parents do not see anything wrong with this book. I believe that if a parent believes the book is not something there child should read they shouldn’t ban the book, simply don’t let your child read it. This is a reason I think this book should not be banned. Not all books that are banned should be but there are some that I see good reasoning for why it has been banned. In my opinion the book I read shouldn’t be banned, but I do see why some readers feel that it should, in the book there is some violence that might be disturbing to a young reader. Also to some young readers they may find the book to be scary. Even with these other points I am still against banning this book and many other books. I encourage anyone who dislikes a book or finds it inappropriate to think about their decision before challenging or banning a
book.
