It’s ignorant to even challenge a book because of its content. In the article, Schools and Censorship: Banned Books it states that, “Every day someone tries to control or otherwise restrict oral expressions, broadcast messages, or written words.” Trying to control what others read is foolish! In fact, Everyone should have the right to read what they want. Especially teenagers, which are entering adulthood and should know to make the right decisions. Moreover, in the article it also states that “our basic right — the freedom to express ourselves as we see fit — is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the United States' Constitution, ensuring the freedom to express one's opinion even if that opinion might be considered unpopular or unorthodox.” It’s like our right is being violated. Yes, drugs,alcohol,sex,are not easy subjects,but why ignore what exists around you. Let children read about these topics and let them gain information of why drugs,alcohol,and sex are either, not safe or the effects that are brought with every subject. Don’t ban books that only have one purpose,to inform the future generations that will be the adults soon. And what can a society that has little experience and knowledge about sex,drugs, and alcohol do? Well,surely not the right thing,because those children that were pulled away from book with censored information, are not informed of all the effects that can be brought to them with each situation. Censorship is not ok, all those topics need to be taught to children so they get the right idea of what misusing drugs and alcohol can bring, and all the diseases that can be brought with sex and etc. Let’s open the eyes to the children and let them see what life
