When America was created, it was supposed to be a place where people could have rights such as freedom of speech and press. Freedom of speech means that citizens have the right to say and think whatever they want. The act of book banning gets rid of freedom of speech and press which is one of the most important things in this country. Getting rid of it is basically breaking the law. Banning books also keep readers away from the real world and opposing viewpoints. Even though some people might not like a book, there is no need to keep it away from everybody. Even if somebody thinks that Harry Potter promotes witchcraft, it shouldn’t be prohibited. And finally, banning books takes away a student’s opportunity to learn new things and see different perspectives. If somebody dislikes a book, there is no reason to keep it away from others and letting others learn from it. Therefore, the restriction specific books has negatively affected students and should not be done, books should be kept out in the open for everybody to read and learn
