We can go around and about our day and hide our emotions, however we can not hide who we are physically. Steroids is a substance that changes us in a physical and mental way, as it helps athletes to build muscles. Whether you take steroids or not, it is simply up to you, because athletes use this to enhance their game playing. Although it can enhance a person’s game play and is illegal, is it a safe and ideal drug for everyone to use? What are steroids? Steroids are power substances such as pinanobol, anadrol and winstrol pills. Some steroids look like needles or comes in a pill format. Steroids are pills taken by athletes to enhance their athletic ability and performance. Steroids are not a good drug to take, as it often leads to many consequences, of which most are physical consequences. Physical effects of steroids are neck widening, regaining weight, bad acne, menstrual cycles every other week, worsening in bone structure or function, vein popping out of skin, permanent scarring, facial hair loss, hormonal changes, and both sexes will receive the
opposite sex effects. Opposite sex effects include development of breast for male, masculinized female fetus for females. For teens who take steroids may have short height due to arrested bone growth, and girls may suffer long term-masculinization.
Aside from physical effects, users can experience mood swings, fly into rages, and suffer delusional problems. Users can cave into depression often times because the abuse of other drugs to cancel out an effect. Depression leads to suicide in this case as well. Steroids give users the belief that they are not so connected with the world, therefore violent outbreaks occurs. Why do people feel the need to use steroids although it is illegal? Anabolic steroids are usually used by bodybuilders, athletes, and fitness "buffs" who claim steroids give them a competitive advantage and/or improve their physical performance. Also, individuals in occupations requiring enhanced physical strength (body guards, construction workers, and law enforcement officers) are known to take these drugs. Steroids are used to increase lean body mass, strength and aggressiveness. Steroids are also believed to reduce recovery time between workouts, which makes it possible to train harder and thereby further improve strength and endurance. Some people who are not athletes also take steroids to increase their endurance, muscle size and strength, and reduce body fat which they believe improves personal appearance. As I have stated earlier, steroids either come in a needle or pill format.
Steroids that come in a pill format are taken orally. Needle steroids are injected into the muscle and not the veins. When dealing with steroids in a needle format, you have to be very cautious. The first being obvious, you must not share needles with another human being, as it can lead to infections and diseases. When deciding where to insert the needle, choose areas such as the buttocks to avoid pain, because the buttocks contains lots of muscle fibers.
Steroids are addictive, hence “powerful drug substance.” As powerful of an effect that the drug can give, users will still maintain their usage of steroids. Because steroids highly increase a person’s athletic ability, users can not stop since their athletic ability will drop increasingly. Some athletes today use steroids, for instance A-Rod, a famous Yankee baseball
player.
Steroids are dispersed practically everywhere, because it is a common drug. Doctors may prescribe steroids to patients for medical purposes like loss of function of testicles, breast cancer, low red blood cell count, delayed puberty and debilitated states resulting from surgery or sickness. Veterinarians give steroids to animals for example, cats, cattle, dogs, and horses for real purposes such as to promote feed efficiency, and to improve weight gain, vigor, and hair coat. They are also used in veterinary practice to treat anemia and counteract tissue breakdown during illness and trauma. There are several places people can get steroids; the most common illegal source is from smuggling steroids into the United States from other countries such as Mexico and European countries. Smuggling them in from these areas is a lot more easier because a prescription is not required in order to buy steroids. Steroids that are found in the illicit market are turned away from their real sources for example, stealing or inappropriate prescribing or produced in secret, illegal labs.
If you are a teenager who wants to end the abuse of steroids you can take a drug test, even though it is expensive. Talk to an adult or a coach of your abuse. You can also go to drug prevention meetings to find out more about the effects of drugs. Most importantly, talk to someone about your drug use, as they can do wonders as to getting you the help you deserve. On a serious note, human beings should stop the use of drugs as it has no positive impacts but more so negative impacts.
