Long ago, in the year 1776, a man by the name of John Hancock, planted a seed. The seed, a perennial, was to last for countless years to come. At first he was unsure, will this seedling survive? Will it be able to grow and prosper, receive enough care and appreciation? To this day, the same tree stands, watered by tears and bloodshed, preserved and protected by it’s strong bark, kept alive by it’s heartwood. This tree, representing The United States of America, still stands strong and proud because all it’s components work together to create one of the best countries in the world. Our “roots” symbolize our ascendants and what transpired in the past. The roots are what anchor us to the world. The roots are what helped America to grow. Our past is made up of important documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Paris, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Significant events include the American Revolution, the Civil War, the Louisiana Purchase, and the September 11 terrorist attacks. Our privilege to vote, assemble, and bear arms. Our freedom of religion, speech, and security. Our unalienable rights; life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. Most of these involving past servicemen who sacrificed an incredible amount for the sake of the U.S. I honor all, for without your bravery, America would not be as it is
