Why Are We Able To Embrace Their Individuality?
As a party, we believe in individual rights and choices. We will set equal footing throughout the country, which means citizens should be able to embrace their individuality. This individuality includes race, religion, gender, status, and heritage. They will not be viewed as lower than others, creating a balanced and united nation with equality among all groups of people. Just like our slogan says, “together as a country, independent as citizens.” This means that everyone stands on equal ground. It isn’t communism where everyone is equal no matter what, but instead we have equality based on what you can’t change about yourself. If you work harder than others, you will be viewed as higher up, but unchangeable or set aspects of people,

This states that everybody has an equal opportunity, but in reality do we? Personally agreeing with his concept, people deserve what they work for in life but not quite sure if that is rational. Everyone starts life with some sort of blessing and who’s to say one deserves more than another. In today’s world, we morally accept the fact that everybody is created equal. As Arora explains, “they believe that we are the authors of our own destiny and whoever wins the race is morally deserving of the awards they obtain from the market – and its flip side, that we morally deserve our failure too, and its consequences” (Arora 88). What Arora is explaining is that from birth we all start out equally, but as time progresses and we become independent, we have to fight for our achievements and live with our failures in order to become successful. Although this statement is true however, everyone starts the same but from different starting points. As Arora also states, “So while the racetrack may look nice and shiny, the runners don’t begin at the same starting point.” So we may all be on the same track of life and looking for that finish line, even though we may have started from different places. For example, there is a reason why janitors who work for very low wages are not doctors or lawyers. They did not have the same opportunity or time to go to school and earn the degree required to…

In the short story Anthem, by Ayn Rand, a person named Equality 7-2521 lives in a socialist society and struggles through countless troubles. For example, everybody in this society is one body that thinks the same. They have a motto, or the great truth, that says: “We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but the great WE, one, invincible and forever.” He, however, is faced with the opportunity to augment his position in this economy, though he might also be judged for his motivation when taking the opportunity.…

When you picture equality, do you see people carrying around heavy bags of birdshot on their necks with the reasoning that they are “stronger than the average person”? No, I didn’t think so. The point I’m trying to get at, is in the short story “Harrison Bergeron” the matter of equality is taken far out of proportion. Total equality is absolutely impossible. It doesn’t matter how many restrictions you put on people, there will always be people who are superior to others.…

He thought that their worship of the word “we” was what made them so terrible. The fact that they weren’t even allowed to think for themselves, only as one whole could they accomplish anything. Nothing within the system was permitted to move on its own. And similarly to the idea presented in the essay, no one was able to morally judge anything or anyone. This was one of the biggest problems that Equality had with his old…

From the time he was a child he was taught that “everything which comes from the many is good. Everything which comes from one is evil” (Pg 85), but as he grows and learns and as he “walks through the forest, [he] is learning to doubt it” (Pg 86). Now, instead of reciting to himself that he must work for the collective he says to himself, “I ask none to live for me, nor do I live for any others. I covet no man's soul, nor is my soul theirs to covet” (Pg 96). He doesn’t want people to live for him and he doesn't want to live for others, he wants to live for himself and himself only. Equality also establishes a new goal for himself in the end which is to become happy as well as free and to pass along these thoughts to the following generations. Equality says that he will “break all the chains of the earth, and raze the cities of the enslaves, and [his] home will become the capital of a world where each man will be free to exist for his own sake”(Pg 104). Equality will fight for human rights and freedom of man until people do exists for their own sake. In conclusion, Equality no longer will work for the collective, he will no longer things he doesn’t want to do, he is now an individual and he will only do things with his free will, and he will make sure all men will one day have that same…

Everyone is equal, and the year is 2081. In Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.’s Harrison Bergeron, everyone is equal in every way, not just before the law and God. To make everyone equal the United States Handicapper General issues handicaps to citizens to suppress their abilities to make everyone have the same mental and physical capabilities. This equality moves all people, except those who work for the United States Handicapper General, from the bourgeoisie class and into the proletariat class, and causes conflict between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie.…

“Take away love, and our earth is a tomb”, a popular quote from an English poet and playwright Robert Browning, that best describes the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet felt that they should be together and they did not care what it took. They were willing to give even their lives. Their love ended in death. The play Romeo and Juliet showed that the ruling passion of true love surpasses the three other kinds of love shown in the play; physical, courtly and family love.…
