Kings book How Animals Grieve called “Why Bunnies get Depressed”. She gave great examples of grief in animals such as dogs and cats all the way to birds and dolphins. She also touched on animals grieving the loss of other animals, and even animal suicide. It was an incredibly interesting piece of writing. Many times when you are researching animal emotions, you come across lots of stories about people and their pets. These stories are always about the connection between the owner and the pet, just like Hachiko and Professor Enyo. While these stories are good, they aren’t useable as solid evidence. Vincent was adopted from a pet shelter and had been badly neglected by his owners. Even after having such a traumatizing early life, it didn’t take long for him to become a normal rabbit. Vincent would spend his days hopping around the house and playing around with his owners. Then along came Lucy. Lucy had been born without ears and was completely deaf.
