However, it was not intended to be for the Ephesus church alone but was also addressed to other churches surrounding it. This is because the epistle uses a generalized language rather than a language specific to a particular church. This is evident as there are no specific exhortations or personal greetings to a particular church (Farley, 70). In fact, according to Ephesians 1:1, the recipients of the epistles are seen as “the saints and those faithful in Christ”.
Paul had I interacted with the region of Ephesus during his last period of his second missionary journey. It was one a great city, a commercial center which was very rich and the centre of worship of goddess Diana (acts 19:23-41). He later visited them in his third missionary journey and had a great success in converting people into disciples.
In the Ephesians letter, Paul addressed great themes that expressed the position Christ has given to Christians, for example the church of Christ and also members of the body of Christ (Mitchell, 64). He wanted them to know several things about their faith in Christ such as; the hope that was in God’s calling, God’s inheritance to the saints and God’s might power to those who believe in
