Bolsheviks Take Control

In World war 1(the great war) Russia had a strong alliance with France and Great Britain While the Germans had an alliance with the Ottman Empire and Austria-Hungary. Russia Being the Biggest country in the world was a lot more ground to protect from invaders. As a Result Mother Russia was involved in 2 major battles at both ends of the country. At the Eastern Part of Russia Europe was at war and Russia was the worst placed strategically. They bordered Germany and Austria-Hungary giving them a disadvantage. On top of that the only trade route they had were all their supply ships would come from was being controlled by the Ottman Empire. Despite all of the circumstances Russia

This was not a very hard task because Germany would also benefit because instead of dividing their troops among the western and eastern front they could put all their forces on the western front. The war was also very unpopular among the Russians due to the food shortages and poverty. On December 14, 1917 an armistice was made concluding the war between the Russians and the Central Powers. The Allies did not support their decision because they would be at a disadvantage. But luckily right when the Russians withdrew from the war the Americans joined the war.

After Lenin successfully withdrew Russia from the war another war broke out within Russia mainly focusing on removing the Bolsheviks. There were three groups The Reds( the Communist parties, Bolsheviks), the Whites(anti-communist) and the Greens who wanted to be free of rule and keep their land. The allies supported the whites because they didn’t want Russia being a communist land. Despite the support from the Allies the Reds emerged victorious allowing to expand his rule to the Rest of

For Lenin and the Bolsheviks winning political power was relatively easy compared with retaining it.
