While the Roman empire fell around 400 C.E. China was able to stay in unity under the Sui dynasty. However, the one and only good achievement that happened under the Sui was a series of canals that connected southern and northern China. Which allowed China to flourish economically and contribute to much of the wealth that it brought. Although after the fall of the Sui dynasty other less ruthless dynasties like the Tang and Song were able to build on the foundation of the Sui, but for much longer reign. In a political sense those two dynasties were able to build up the political structure for around a thousand years. With those achievements it made the Song dynasty “by far the richest, most skilled, and most populous country on earth” (Ways of the World). Buddhism first entered China through the Silk Road. At first Buddhism did not go well with Chinese belief because a life as a monk or a nun concluded to dishonor our families values.
