Germany caused World War 1 in many ways, and here is one. Germany and France were arguing over foreign lands. They argued over the land of Morocco and even and even fought a battle against each other to see who could keep it. France was like Germany’s rival because of how much hate they had for each other. This meant if a war had started between any of the countries France and Germany would be on opposing sides. This was true because according
to the text it states that Germany would launch a quick attack on France,”Germany to first launch a quick and overwhelming attack on France”(pg 16), which means Germany was going to cause a war with France when they attacked. This is one way that Germany started World War 1, by getting others involved such as France.
Another way that Germany caused World War 1 is by declaring war on Russia because of who Germany was aligned with. Russia had already declared war on Austria (one of Germany’s allies). Then Germany told Russia to stop the war between Russia and Austria, and according to the text, it says that Russia did not accept Germany's request to stop the war with Austria, ¨ Russia refused and Germany declared war on Russia¨ (pg.16), with that Germany, declared war on Russia. By declaring war on Russia, Germany added more countries to the war. This is another way Germany caused World War 1.
The last way Germany started World War 1was because they followed through with the Schlieffen Plan. In the text, it says that Germany was going to attack France quickly while Russia was mobilizing their troops. Little did Germany know, but Russia mobilized their troops quicker than what they thought. Germany caused many other countries to get involved with the war such as Belgium and England. In the text, it says, ¨ Belgium resisted heavily and when Belgium and France appealed to Britain for help, Britain quickly joined the war in their defense.¨ This shows that Britain got into the war because of Germany trying to attack their allies. This is the last way Germany started World War 1.
Opinions may differ about Germanyś role in causing World war 1. Some may say that it was the assassination of Austria's archduke that started the war. With that being said Serbia caused World War 1. After the assassination Austria sent Serbia a list of demands, in the passage it says that Serbia rejected the list because they expected full support from Russia. With that, Germany and Austria were at war with Russia and Serbia. Serbia caused the war because they denied the demands that were sent by Austria and it caused other countries to get heavily involved.
Without a doubt, Germany caused World War 1, but to others, it may seem as if Serbia started it. This text gave the reader the evidence that Germany caused the first world war, but some may not agree with it.
