Why Did Marshall Want To Be A Paratrooperr

After Marshall had gone through the process of enlisting, he decided he wanted to be a paratrooper. To become a paratroopers, he had to go through a three-week training course. Paratroopers are soldiers that are trained for assault by air. They can be dropped to the ground by parachute or they can be transported to combat areas by airplanes. In combat, airborne troops land behind the enemy lines, blow up bridges, destroy communications, and cut off supplies and reinforcements. Being a paratrooper can be hard work. They have to carry heavy packs of equipment, including an automatic rifle, a machine gun, grenades, a medical kit, and radio equipment (Airborne Troops). Marshall chose to be a paratrooper because he didn’t want to be one of the stereotypical soldiers that everyone else wanted to be. He wanted to be different. When he heard about paratroopers, he thought it sounded interesting. Marshall liked the idea of jumping out of plane on to enemy lines and being sort of like a surprise attack. He didn’t want to be seen as someone who just followed what everyone else did, he wanted to show he was different from everyone else
Since he’s an E-5 Sergeant, he had to first be a private and go through all the other ranks as well. The other rankings are Private, Private E-2(PV2), Private First Class(PFC), Corporal(CPL)/Specialist(SPC), then to a Sergeant(SGT). It continues to go up to higher ranks and officers. After a Sergeant he goes to Staff Sergeant(SSG), Sergeant First Class(SFC), Master Sergeant(MSG)/First Sergeant(1SG), Sergeant Major(SGM)/Command Sergeant Major(CSM), and lastly to Sergeant Major of the Army(SMA).
