Hunting during the puritan times was very important for the pioneers because if they did not and trape they would not get food. They had many different animals they hunted that we still hunt today. The animals they hunted were the white tailed deer, wild turkey, and waterfowl birds. Some of the the things they trapped were beaver, coon, muskrat, squirrels, and rabbits. Nowadays it is more of a sport then a necessity, but we still uses the same equipment that the puritans use. It's not exactly the same stuff they used, because we have made it a lot nicer and easier to use. We still hunt the same animals, the same way they did during the puritan times, and we still trape the same animals as well. Most of the animals we hunt have gotten a lot smarter over the years, because the preter count has increased. The puritans always used the musket which is a single shot gun that takes quite a process to load. We still use the gun today, but we call it a muzzleloader. We have many other guns to make hunting easier, but most of the animals we shoot with the muzzleloader are a big game animal.
