This was tested by having a participant read aloud a list of colors with incongruent ink colors and then reading one where all the color names were in black ink. Both experiments were time to see if there was a significant time difference between them. He was also testing the differences in results for males and females. The results that were found showed that there was not a significant difference in time between the two conditions. The major difference was instead of naming the color written in incongruent ink, the participants were naming the ink color of the color name printed. The two conditions that were tested where colored blocks and color names printed in incongruent ink colors. Before each condition there was a practice condition, and the participants were broken up into two groups. In each group, they were given a different order or the conditions. Stroop was testing the amount of time it took the participants to read aloud the ink colors of both the blocks and the color names printed in incongruent ink color. He also tested the difference between males and females. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the time it took to do each condition. It took participants significantly more time to name the ink color that were incongruent with the names of the colors than it did to name the ink color of the blocks. This shows that it is reading the names of the colors is easier than saying the ink
