About 65 million years ago, a huge asteroid about 10 kilometers (6 miles) in diameter supposedly struck the Earth and caused the extinction of dinosaurs (Than). But is it really possible that one meteor could kill over 700 different species of dinosaurs? Could the asteroid really have been so big that it devastated the entire world? Is there any explanation to why the asteroid hit in the first place? There is no way that scientists could truly find the answer to any of these questions, meaning that there are hundreds of other theories that people have come up with. This essay will explain other theories on how the dinosaurs became extinct and what caused the event. Dinosaurs ruled the world for over 160 million years, …show more content…
It may have started with a few dinosaurs, but once those dinosaurs had their carcasses fed on, the plague quickly could have spread to the dinosaurs that they gave birth to or the dinosaur that was looking for something to eat. This could have spread over the Earth quickly if an infected dinosaur was going for a quick swim and a shark, piranha, or any other meat eating fish thought that the dinosaur was looking tasty. These fish could have quickly spread the infection around the world and caused the dinosaurs to become extinct. Even though some dinosaurs survived this infection and live with us today, the only explanation to how that is possible is if those dinosaurs were immune to the infection. In conclusion, there are so many theories to how the dinosaurs died. The plague theory is the most reasonable because of the evidence that supports it, but we will still never know for a fact how it all went down. This plague could have taken months, years, or even decades. Either way, there is still no way to prove this theory. Ultimately, there are so many theories that could possibly explain the extinction, but we may never know the true way these magnificent creatures came face-to-face with
