The Revolutionary Period, a time of new beginnings for everyone, shaped most of the authors we see in American History. Thomas Jefferson was born into the Revolutionary literary period. “Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, in Shadwell, Virginia” (Biography). He was one of the small percentage
of kids who received an education from an early start and kept going throughout his early adulthood years. Jefferson studied many things, including: Latin, Greek, Classical languages, literature and Mathematics (Biography). This helped him to write in multiple styles and to know much more about writing than the average person in that time period.
Jefferson’s works were affected by The Revolutionary Period because America needed someone to write its documents. As the United States started to form, it needed people to write its formal documents to become a country. “In June 1776, the Congress appointed a five-man committee (Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman and Robert Livingston) to draft a Declaration of Independence” (Biography). These five people were the more outstanding people in the colonies during that time and were elected because of their knowledge and talent. Jefferson did not write the entire document however, but authored the first draft. Jefferson had passion in his works and that showed in the first draft of the Declaration of Independence.
Jefferson was affected by The Revolutionary Period because America was just starting to become a nation. As the United States kept gaining independence, Jefferson started to use his skills he learned while studying law. Thomas Jefferson was a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses (Timeline). Not only was he in the Virginia House of Burgesses, he also was part of the most famous group which led to one government we have today. Jefferson was in the First Continental Congress, which in today’s age is Congress itself (Timeline).
