D’Souza shares his story of when he moved from Bombay, India to America. After reading the story, I found it fascinating that immigrants were very interested in America. According to the story, children carry heavy amounts of stones and the women carry heavy loads to their destination in the villages of Africa and Asia. Everyday these people strive to live a good life but all they have is hope. They hope that they can survive long enough to see another day. They constantly put all their effort into their work but they continue to struggle. The middle class people who live in a nascent world don’t necessarily have an issue with basic survival but they did face hardships. They were pretty much poor where they lived. The water was unsafe to drink or use, roads were not paved correctly, pollution in the cities became hazardous, it is overcrowded, and transportation is unreliable. In order to get things done, many people had to pay extra because the government officials were corrupted. It is hard for immigrants to have a life when they are constantly facing hardships every day. These are all the reasons why immigrants are so appealing to America. In America, many things are extremely different from other countries. We have completed roads, public restrooms, nice homes, super markets, and plenty of opportunities to live an ideal life. Children receive education and people who have a sickness get treated by doctors. Another reason why immigrants move to America is, because of the money and beautiful women. I don’t know if this is true but I always heard a story about why most Chinese people move to America. I was told that they move to America to have more children because in China, they aren’t allowed to have more than one child. If they have more than one child, the second one will be taken away.
