They would look for people that are lonely and don’t have a lot of family or friends. Jim Jones was very smart and was able to get follower thought the sense of that he is giving them a family. “He also built through the communal organization that he set up within the Temple a sense of family. At the same time, however, he was breaking down the individual family units within the Temple, and he was getting a tighter and tighter grip on his follower,” (Sachs 1). Jim Jones followers love him so much they saw him as a father figure. This father figure was a big reason why a lot of people join his church and was so loyal to him and did whatever he want them to do. Jim jones also set a good example and open up his family to everyone. “He was a role model for me- adopted children of all colors,” (Brooks 1).
