Why Do People Support Moral Objectivism

Every coin has two sides. There is also a group of people who support the moral objectivism. According to their view, morality is based on some general facts, such as happiness is better than suffering, punishing people for the crime that they did not commit is wrong, and so on. In their theory, morality refers to the rightness, wrongness, goodness or badness, and morality is there to determine if an action or decision is correct or not. Morality is not related with the profit of an individual or a group of people; it’s all about common fact or general truth.
Genocide is wrong. In the view of the modern society, this idea is absolutely correct, and it is considered as a fact or truth to support the moral objectivism. But isn’t the “rightness”
Saying happiness is better than sadness is like saying that earning profit is better than losing it, but this is not a general truth. The happiness for a person depends on his or her own mind. If a person thinks that staying at home and sleeping could make him enjoy the weekend, that’s the happiness for this person. However, if an active person is asked to stay at home for his weekend, it might be a sad thing for him because he would like to enjoy his weekend with his friends by hiking or having a party. In the end, the happiness and sadness of the same thing changes position, and the considered truth becomes a wrong one because the definition of happiness and sadness depends on people’s mind. For the same thing, a person might earn profits, but other people might loss profits; it depends on people’s minds instead of the fact or truth. Therefore, when the majority of people in a social era, a country or the whole world have the same opinion of profit’s gain and loss, a new moral rule is shaped because people would like to make their behavior of protecting profits look right.
