In the world today, it is evident that people mostly do not resist change, but they do resist loss. Making a smoker to quit smoking is a challenge as it revolves around confronting losses. Smoking is a risk that does not have a defined solution. The only known solution is embracing change to reform or cease smoking. Smoking is not easy to stop because of its addictive problems due to the presence of nicotine in cigarettes. Use of cigarettes is the trap, which many people are unable to get through since it is hard for one to fight the addictive act, which comes with use of nicotine. The problem with smokers is that they do not appreciate the change. The most probable outcome is that the individuals will be resistant to change their status quo. Adaptive leadership and not authoritative leadership have to be applied to register positive outcomes. A smoker can be helped to stop smoking by ensuring that the way they see and perceive things is changed. Challenging how smokers define themselves can trigger enormous feelings of loss. Quitting smoking on behalf of someone else is impossible. The most I can do is to offer sound advice, but the biggest challenge is ensuring that my brother quits smoking. It is a dilemma that is beyond my grasp, but nonetheless, I am determined to ensure that he ceases smoking for his good. This adaptive challenge is more about ensuring that my brother will adopt a new belief, will ensure that he pursues the belief so that he leads a better a life devoid of smoking
