1. America became involved in the war of 1812 because Great Britain was kidnapping US sailors and forcing them to work for the British navy (Impressment). This was the cause of death for many Americans, and it angered the US. Britain also encouraged Native Americans to revolt against Americans.
2. The battle of New Orleans restored American Pride among the people. It also gave Andrew Jackson a sense of closure concerning the deaths in his family. It was America’s greatest victory in the War of 1812. America was victorious.

4. The Hartford convention took place during the war of 1812, it was a series of meetings in Hartford Connecticut. It discussed the relationships between the states, the implementation of new laws and the situation of the southern border. It is mostly ignored because everything discussed was never finished, or never gotten around to.

Henry Clay’s American system consisted of creating a new national bank, raise taxes on imported goods, and create roads and canals. The south was angry because they felt the American system did not take into consideration their needs and they were excluded. They thought the system only looked out for the north. Without the approval from the south, Clay could never pass the system.
6. The separation between north and south influenced everyone to act nice, and make everyone happy because of the tension that was forming. They wanted everyone to be content. The name “good feelings” refers to how everyone tried to remain calm through the tension.
7. The Missouri Compromise promised Missouri that it could be a slave sate only if no other slaves were brought into the state, and all slave children were to be freed. There was a line drawn to prevent more slave states above the southern border. The law that said people could no long bring in slaves was a poor attempt, because people brought slaves in anyway. states.
8. The Monroe Doctrine states that if you don’t muddle with Mexico or Canada or any country close to the US then the US will not muddle with you. Today America still follows this doctrine.
9. The war of 1812 was a combination of poor military strength and an imbalance of political ideas. It was incredible that America even won the war with its inexperienced military and the constant bickering among political leaders. Similar to Vietnam, America showed poor militaristic strategies.
