Guilt is something that no person likes to feel, and people will often attempt to avoid feeling it. This is why people do what they can in order to rid themselves of it. In a normal people the feeling of guilt causes people to reflect over their actions and look at all their mistakes, so that they can avoid the situation next time around and prevent the sense of guilt. Guilt is an extremely powerful feeling to those who believe that they can never do wrong. People with powerful ambition or goals are often those who are negatively affected by guilt. This those with such high ambitions feel that what they are doing is right and that they are right no matter what and so when they see how truly wrong their actions were, they begin to reflect on all the thigs that they have done and lose sight of their ambitions. For instance, in the play Macbeth, after having killed the king and fulfill his ambition, Macbeth began to fall into insanity. After realizing all the wrongs and evils he has committed, Macbeth begins to go insane, beginning to see illusion of those he felt he has wronged. One instance, is when he attends a party and begins to see the ghost of Banquo, his friend who he has killed, his guilt causes him to create a image of Banquo that torments him. As you can see from the play Macbeth, guilt is a very destructive feeling that can harm a person. This is because guilt often makes people shameful of themselves and their actions, making them judge themselves and ruin their lives.
