Why I Hate Writing
Writing for me has been one of the things I used to hate the most. I would always hate when teachers would ask us to write an essay/ paper. From what I remember about my writing experiences it has been so difficult for me. Due to my low vocabulary skills and also for being Hispanic. These obstacles lead me to hate writing with a passion. At one point I was able to overcome these obstacles and have success with my writing.

Having low vocabulary skills made it so difficult for me to understand reading and writing. Whenever I had to read and write I would never understand what the book said or understand how to start write. Due to my low vocabulary skills I was put in the Special Education Program. Being in the Special Education Program affected me so much because I had some of my peers make fun of me. This made me think I wasn’t as smart as them. Having my peers made fun of me where I tend to have a slow self-esteem. Whichever I had to read out loud during class I would always panic because of what my classmates would think and also because of the high vocabulary the book has. Being in the Special Education Program I was able to improve with my vocabulary, reading and writing skills. Which I will always be thankful for those who helped me when I was in the program.

Being Hispanic is one of the biggest blessings I could have ever asked for, but unfortunately when I was young it made me struggle with learning English. It made it difficult for me to understand English which lead me to having difficulty with my writing skills. When teachers asked us to write, I would always stress out about them. Due to my English not being where it should have been. I still struggle a little bit now, but not as much as before. Now that I overcame that obstacle I feel luckier than ever for being able to read, speak and write both languages when most people

The Marble sarcophagus with garlands and the myth of Theseus and Ariadne was made during the Hadrianic or early Antonine period in A.D. 130-150. The sarcophagus was discovered in 1889 near Rome. The sarcophagus is made out of marble, luni, and peltonic with the dimensions of 31 x 85 3/4 x 28 inches. The purpose of the sarcophagus was to hold human remains. The lid is shown in low relief of winged erotes driving chariots drawn by animals associated with the seasons: bears with spring, lions with summer, bulls with autumn, and boars with winter. The front of the sarcophagus shows four erotes with garlands consisting of flowers, wheat, grapes, pomegranates, and laurel. It tells the myth of Theseus and Ariadne. With the help of the Cretan princess Ariadne, the Greek hero Theseus slaughtered the Minotaur, a part bull and part human monster. The Minotaur was placed in a labyrinth, where he consumed Athenian children sent as an annual tribute. From left to right, the narrative represents Ariadne giving a thread to Theseus at the enterance to the labyrinth, Theseus massacring the…

Because when I came to the United States at a young age I faced a lot challenges and hardships but I decided to keep going and stay resilient. One of the challenges I faced was learning the English language. At the beginning when I arrived the U.S I did know any single word in English and that was upsetting and sad to me because everybody in my school knew how to speak it. English language has always been a difficult language to learn for me. But, I try to not give up and I am improving in it through my diligence. Nevertheless, I was dedicated to develop my English skills through learning and studying new vocabulary words and tried to use them in my daily life dialogues. My growth mindset was pushing me every single day to learn and face my obstacles. I also liked to read a lot of books which improved my reading skills and correspondingly gave me new words and notions. Despite, sometimes I do not understand the senses of the words while reading it I used a dictionary. I listened to music and read the lyrics of the songs because I have told that this is one of the effective methods to learn a language. On the other hand, I have taken plenty of workshops, programs on how to progress in pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. I know learning a language is hard but what it is harder is to not give up and stay focused on my own work. I have failed a lot of times in the past but once I fail I…

As a writer, I believe I have several strengths as well as challenges. Beginning with my strengths, I believe I have a passion for writing. When I write I make it easy to follow my train of thought from simple word selection to more complex thoughts. I also have my topics organized in a pattern designed for an easy flow from start to finish of what is written. While I strive to keep it simple, sometimes I have to get creative to capture and keep my readers attention. For my challenges, I believe my limited vocabulary may be a problem along with thoughts that do not convey any useful information. In order to improve my writing skills, I have to read, re-read, and re-read again to make sure I stick to the topic at hand.…

Writing is definitely not my favorite task, but I don’t hate it either. I would say that I am indifferent towards writing. However, writing is a skill that needs to be honed and mastered, because it plays such a key role in almost any career. So when I started working in the lab I was a little apprehensive, because I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. But through my work in the lab I have observed so many different levels of students and how that plays a role in their writing and style; I have even learned some facts about the way I write that I was not aware of. I have learned that I am not very confident in my own writing skills, and I need to work on my writer’s voice.…

On the first day of class, Dr.Ruiz wrote six questions on the board and the last question asked for our perspective on writing. My answer to this question was “I hate writing.” I’m an English Learner who came to the U.S. 5 years ago with no knowledge in English. Therefore, writing is not a likable assignment due to my lack of English skills and I did not have confidence when I wrote in English because I had a fear of people’s judgment about my English. Therefore, I was not an advanced writer when I enrolled in WRI 001. Nevertheless, I have grown substantially since beginning of the semester as a reader, writer, researcher and thinker.…

Writing has always been my most difficult part of English. Reading, on the other hand, is something I could do all day; however, with writing, I grimace just thinking about it. It was not that I did not have anything to say, because I actually have quite a bit to say. I just could never figure out how to phrase what I had to say in just right way on the page. My mom taught me to read and write at a young age. After that, I would devour any book that I could get my hands on. However, I have had trouble with writing since it became more than just my alphabet and numbers.…

In my daily basis I can speak three languages and think it is great. In college I speak English, at home Russian/Ukrainian/English. My English was very bad and it was my first difficulty here. Overcome, but still a difficulty. For example, when it was necessary to call the bank or regarding any bill, at first I become covered with a cold sweat. Sometimes they hang up on me, which was understandable, but then I learn to write it down their names (practice in alphabetical), after that they were more patient with me. I didn’t live and didn’t work on Brighton Beach, where everybody speaks only Russian and it helped me to improve my speaking. Also, I was lucky to work in a medical office with all native speaking English employees. It helped me a lot. I don’t know how about in other states, but in New York is both good and bad, no one…

I have always loved to write in my native language. I loved how I can express myself and my feelings without even saying them out loud. “But, can I still do this?” a question that was always driving me hazy. A new language means…
