FBI Agent Research Paper With the criminal justice bachelor’s degree I obtain from Delaware State University, I would like to go into the Federal Bureau of Investigation and become a special agent. The reason I choose this career is because it is full of excitement and travel. There would never be a boring day in this field and I would make a direct impact in helping maintain the peace and morality of our nation. Agents must maintain their top security clearance eligibility and undergo a background check every five years. FBI agents must always be open to the possibility of relocating due to the fact that they must relocate to other offices depending on the bureau’s needs. The daily tasks of an agent include identifying case issues and evidence based on complaints, charges or allegations of violations. Agents also interview suspects and witnessed to obtain and verify information, and record interviews using tools such as cameras and tape recorders. Agents much also search for and collect evidence, such as fingerprints, DNA samples and computer records. When FBI agents do this work they must also follow-up with a detailed report of findings, and for testifying before juries concerning criminal investigations. There are five different career paths within the FBI that agents can select. These paths are counterterrorism, cyber investigations, criminal investigations, intelligence or counterintelligence. Once you are in the FBI new agents will undergo a 20- week training period where they learn basic skills for collecting information during investigations.
