One association is the ALTA, or Academic Language Therapy Association. The operation of ALTA is to set up, sustain, support and reinforce standards to assure that the membership will perform quality professional services for students with dyslexia and related disorders. The mission of PT professional education is to graduate well-informed, service-oriented, confident, adjustable, reflective practitioners who, by virtue of critical and integrative thinking, lifelong learning, and moral principles, render self-sufficient judgments concerning patient needs that are supported by evidence; encourage the health of the patient or client; and add to the professional, background, and mutual foundations for practice.
