Diagnostic Medical Sonography is the scientific name for Ultrasound Technician. Ultrasound is harmless. All it is sound waves. When a tech. Ultrasounds a patient they have to use ultrasound gel because between the skin and the probe (what is used to scan) is air, the gel makes a bond between the skin and the probe so that the sound wave can get through to the object the ultrasound d is scanning for. When the sound wave hits the object it bounces off, goes back to the probe and on the computer screen the object is shown as a black and white blob or a tank and gray blob, depending on the type of ultrasound machine they have.
How to Become One
