Her name is Nena, she is a sonographer in El Paso, TX. She said she always wanted to be in the medical field since she was a little girl and she always had a passion for helping people. When she was little, she would translate for her mom at doctor’s offices, which is how she later got introduced into medical assisting. After, being a medical assistant, she met the director of the radiology department where she worked, who was currently involved in the ultrasound department. After meeting him, she thought sonography sounded challenging and exciting, and over some time she developed a passion for it; this made her go back to school to study sonography.

To support this statement, she detailed her own experience. She started off as a typical sonographer, then transitioned to be a high-risk sonographer, then she became the manager for the ultrasound department at her job, and now she is the director for the department, and works on teaching others how to conduct ultrasounds.

Yes, she believes this field is growing and expanding. She believes this is happening because there are many specialties of ultrasound, and because good sonographers are in high demand.

She believes, that this is a secure field. She mentions that pretty much if you do what you’re told, then you won’t have any problems. Although, she says that there is nothing a hundred percent secure in life.

She says... Oh yes. Every day is different, and new challenges and situations always pop up. It is very exciting.
