Why Is Animal Farm Banned

Animal Farm is considered one of George Orwell’s most popular and enduring works yet banned by many members of society. Animal Farm written by George Orwell chronicles the story of a group of barnyard animals that revolt against their human masters in an attempt to create a utopian state. Banned books are books in which free access isn’t permitted. The practice of banning books is a form of censorship from political, religious or moral motives. The Pico case (1982) was a case in which four justices of the United States Supreme Court concluded that the First Amendment of the Constitution limits the power of local school boards to remove library books from high schools (Board of Education v. Pico). This case relates to the novel Animal Farm because it is banned in certain schools and even reached the point of being banned by the Soviet Union government.
