Athens had a powerful Navy while Sparta had a good Army. When it comes to battling on land, Sparta has it for the win, but when it comes to battling on water Athens will most likely win because Athens has a stronger Navy than Sparta while Sparta has a better Army than Athens. If you battle Athens on water, you will more than likely lose.
According to the text, in Sparta, people were not open to education. Meanwhile people in Athens got good education and without education it’s hard to do pretty much anything. Athens wins in this case because having an education
is really important because without it you can’t read and without knowing how to read you cant read instructions on how to do something.
The passage states, in Athens, women were not allowed to leave the house or anywhere without a man present. In Sparta, women were able to roam freely without anyone accompanying them. People might say that it was unfair and it very much is.
Others may argue that it’s a good thing that Spartan women were able to roam freely because they don’t have to be followed around all the time. That is true but there is a better explanation. Even though Athenian women were not able to roam freefly, it is a good thing because they don’t have to take the risk of being hurt because the man will defend them, meanwhile Spartan women are alone and have to take the risk of getting hurt because they have to stand up for themselves.
I personally think that Athens is a better place to live because everything this passage has stated backs up why Athens is better. Having a man with you at all times, getting a good education, and having a good army are all good things to have.
