It is also a vertical hierarchy within the organization. It is used in order for a person to receive orders from another person who is above them who in turn issues orders. Chain of command is important within corrections because when working in a field which requires details an issue is bound to occur. Therefore, it is important to make sure that whenever one is faced with a problem the correct steps are taken in order to solve the issue.
