Critical thinking involves the ability to weigh evidence, examine arguments, and construct rational bases for generally accepted beliefs. In order to establish a theoretical basis for studying critical thinking, a great quantity of research has been done. Critical thinking is not only the ability to reason and construct arguments, but also the ability to examine the reasoning processes involved and being able to evaluate their appropriateness and effectiveness. This "judgment" aspect is what makes critical thinking more than just problem solving. It is not sufficient to be able to apply problem-solving strategies to a particular problem; a true critical thinker must be able to choose appropriate strategies and even create new ones when necessary.…

Critical thinking can occur within any given subject field, As the text book stated in Chapter one, “critical thinking” is not synonymous with good thinking,” “hard thinking,” “clear thinking,” “constructing arguments,” problem solving,” or “thinking outside the box. “Critical thinking kicks in after you have done these and other kinds of thinking.Critical thinking is the purposeful and reflective judgment about what to believe and what to do in response to the observations, experience, verbal or written expressions or arguments. Critical thinking is a well-defined term. It is not subject to the miss-interpretation of people who do not know exactly what it means, again, in my opinion. Critical thinking, as I understand it, and also believe to be accurate, is examining presented information for both internal and external consistency with what is known. It is the spotting of miss-information in that way. You take facts and events without using your personal opinions or feeling. You must rely on reason and follow the evidence, we must think about our own thinking. A person who develops these critical thinking skills is able to raise vital questions and problems about the issues. The critical thinker gathers and evaluates information that is relevant to the question or problem at hand and is able to use abstract ideas to interpret these questions or problems effectively. In Chapter one in the text book for this course in my understanding, Critical thinking is the process of deducing events and statements logically and drawing a conclusion that best fits the scenario. Critical thinking requires comprehension and excellent communication…

Critical thinking can be defined as a type of reasonable, reflective thinking that is aimed at deciding what to believe or what to do. You could also view it as a way of deciding whether a claim is always true, sometimes true, partly true, or false. For me personally, I see it as a way to view things free of bias so I may better understand the truth in it. Critical thinking is something that everybody should strive for so that they can better understand the world and the other people who they share it with. Maybe this is just a dream, but if everyone could think more critically then I believe we could solve a lot of the problems that plague the human race.…

Critical thinking (CT) is a cognitive process in which we take nothing for granted, but instead we reflect on the information we receive and establish our own judgment. We are the ones who decide what to and what not to believe or do.…

Since critical thinking begins with assumptions we must first be aware of the assumption, then make the assumption and finally assess it. Critical thinking is how a person assesses the reasons for or against a decision being made so the assumption is neither good nor bad until fully assessed. Critical thinking is also done by being completely unbiased. This can be hard sometimes due to our emotions. Our emotions make up who we are which can sometimes cause barriers when making a critical decision. So the trick is to not ignore or deny our emotions but learn how to manage and handle them. In order to manage our emotions we may need to argue with ourselves or others whether or not something is true or not. An argument will allow the issue to be assessed along with the reasons of why or why not a decision is valid. The argument will also lead to one or more conclusions in determining what the final decision should be. The ultimate objective in thinking critically is to come to conclusions that are correct and to make decisions that are wise. (Critical thinking (10th ed.) (Moore & Parker). So to me critical thinking is not ill formed decisions but decisions that have been thought through and weighed to come up with the best conclusion. It usually isn’t our first thought that comes to mind. You have to critically think about the conclusions you are trying to come to without being biased in the process, which as I said can be difficult because we all have emotions.…

Albert Einstein once sad “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them”. In my understanding it clearly shows that not just an officer should think, write and read but the every human being who looks for success in any kind of way should do it judgmentally and self-critically as well. Such kind of thinking usually is called critical thinking. We can do lot of things critically – read, write, think and etc. But let’s take a closest look to reason why we should do it? Why an officer should think, read and to do that critically?…

As a general rule, critical thinking involves developing some emotional and intellectual distance between yourself and ideas whether you’re own or others in order to better evaluate their truth, validity, and reasonableness. Critical thinking is an effort to develop reliable, rational evaluations about what is reasonable for us to believe and disbelieve. Critical thinking makes use of the tools of logic and science because it values skepticism over gullibility or dogmatism, reason over faith, science of pseudoscience, and rationality over wishful thinking. Critical thinking does not guarantee that we will arrive at truth, but it does make it much more likely than any of the alternatives do.…
