Antiquities are the better way to understand the history of our country. It is the perfect way to know more about our cultural. In one of Joyce Mortimer’s interviews, Michael Bell stated that “many …show more content…
artifacts and works of art have special cultural value for a particular community or nation”. Michel bell further states that if any artifacts export from their original setting then these artifacts lose their cultural value and its unique connection with the place where they were produced. Cultural artifacts should be returned back where they come from in order for people to view those relics and understand the history of their place.
Moreover, it is unfair with those people who could not travel to a foreign museums and appreciate their own cultural.
“Morgantina which was returned to Italy and on display in the museum of Aidone…last year 30,767 people visited the Aidonia museum, and about 26,000 visited Morgantina” ( Danodia, Rachel). We need to understand that these things are belongs to those who made them. It is very important for local people to visit them and it is also very important for their country’s economy. It help them to make money from the people who come to visit and appreciate their country. We have no right to steal their sources and opportunities. Another reason why it is important for museum to return antiquities where they come from is that many of cultural artifacts has been stolen from the museum. As Michael bell claims in the article that “returning a work of art has a strong legal basis” They are illegally exported to different countries in order to make some money. They are being exhibited across the country in order get some revenue and benefit from it. Artifacts are losing its basic value that is why I think it should go back to their regions of
origins.
Therefore, I believe that Antiquities should be returned to their countries of origins because we should not steal anyone’s rights from visiting their own artistry we should not take anyone’s credit and use them illegally. We have to appreciate the special value to their particular community and nation.
