of these things are lacking is in trophy-hunting. trophy-hunting, in one’s own opinion as well as many, is where all the bad reputation, that is immediately tagged to any and all hunters, originates from. “Every hunter has an opinion. Some revere it; others believe it is a vile and despicable activity.”(Ranta, 2) Trophy deer hunting is technically the same as just deer hunting to put food on the table; the only difference is the size of the antlers, or other highly prized characteristics are considered for. An odd, but logical observation; still, due to varying personal ethics, it is a very touchy subject to discuss.
Trophy hunting has earned its unsavoury reputation;only 20 percent of all the people cause 80 percent of all the problems for all the people, which in turn forces everyone to deal with the consequences; a sad, but very honest truth. within the word of legalities and, in today’s world, corruption- moral beliefs are still a big part in most decisions on the laws, and civil situations dealing with hunting.
poaching, of course, is considered morally wrong as well as illegal. makes sense; it is just plain wrong, and against the law. trespassing; another issue that is, again, ethically wrong as well as against the law. trespassing has become more of a problem, especially of late, but that has likely got most to do with trophy-hunting and the bad rap that the hunting society is tagged with as whole. modern phase of trophy hunting started around the 1970’s, when the population in the United States and Canada surged, or increased dramatically. Numbers soaring into the stratosphere, and the population, in many places, being higher than most had ever seen, hunting for masses of people just got to the point where it was plain simple easy; too easy.(Ranta, 3) Since letting the meat of an animal go to waste is illegal, anyone who does, trophy hunter or not, is committing a serious offense. Poaching is hunting before or after hours in season, as well as out of season; from the roadside, through the window of a vehicle, across the road, etcetera. Six different seasons for deer hunting alone, some of which have been recently added to help control the already out of control deer population, at least in the state of indiana. Hunting hours, no matter what season it is, are and have been, as set by the Department of Natural Resources for Indiana, in the state of Indiana, a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset. The six seasons are Archery(Bow), firearms, Muzzleloader, reduction zone, antlerless/doe, and youth. The recently added seasons are Reduction zone(Urban bow/crossbow), special antlerless/doe, youth;these seasons were added to help reduce the deer population, in the state of indiana, which ranks as one of the highest for deer/car collisions in the U.S. The reduction zone(s) season is, this
year, from September 15, 2016 to January 31, 2017; in other words, all through the fall and through the winter. The the urban hunts are strictly in designated locations. Youth is september 24 and 25 of this year. Archery, or bow, season is October 1 through to January 1. Firearms, or shotgun, season is from November 12 to November 27. Muzzleloader, or rifle, season is from December 3 through December 18. Special antlerless/doe is December 26 to January 1.(DNR)
