Argumentative Essay Gun Control Gun control is an extremely controversial topic that really came into play in 2018. Some people say gun control is going to be the only way to stop mass shootings in the U.S., while others disagree and think gun control is considered unconstitutional because it would be voiding our 2nd Amendment right, “The right to bear arms.” Americans should have stricter gun control laws because gun control should become institutionalized which would lower crime rate, limit the ways felons can get ahold of guns, and decrease the amount of mass shootings across the US drastically; however, some people might disagree because they think it’s unconstitutional or that it would violate our …show more content…
second amendment. To a certain extent, gun control, should be institutionalized because it would lower crime rate and make people feel safer. The point of gun control is “if we take guns away, then people won’t commit violent crimes” (Moyer, P. 1). If the U.S. instated gun control laws, the common enology is that it would lower the crime rate in places like Compton, L.A., and Chicago. Gun control is not unconstitutional when the vast majority of citizens in the U.S. abuse their Gun rights and cause people to lose their lives. The government got extreme backlash after the Florida shooting, because people said their will be no change, Gun control should be that change, and Gun control should be instated.
While Gun Control is a very controversial topic, what isn't controversial is that if Gun Control came into play in the U.S., it would limit the ways felons could get ahold of guns.
At the moment some felonies can be expunged and a felon can possibly get their gun rights back (Gerbis, P. 1.), if gun control happens then it would hopefully make that possibility irrelevant and no felon will be able to get their gun rights back. The old saying “if it’s not broke then don’t fix it”, does not apply in this epidemic, if we take away guns, it will limit felons being able to get guns in the U.S. drastically. Should gun control be instituted in the U.S.? It should, not only because it will make people feel more safe out in public and at home, but because gun control would make the U.S. more safe to other people outside the U.S. welcoming others into our country. The main issue people have with gun control is, “if we take away guns, killers will just use other weapons to kill” (Kirk, P. 1). The reason gun control may not work is because if we take away guns, people will find ways to smuggle them from other states and countries, but it will also give killers more choices on what weapons they can use; whether that be a baseball bat, a sledgehammer, or a
knife. Americans should have stricter gun control laws because gun control should become institutionalized which would lower crime rate, limit the ways felons can get ahold of guns, and decrease the amount of mass shootings across the US drastically; however, some people might disagree because they think it’s unconstitutional or that it would violate our second amendment. In conclusion, Americans should have stricter gun control laws because gun control should become institutionalized which would lower crime rate, limit the ways felons can get ahold of guns, and decrease the amount of mass shootings across the U.S. drastically; however, some people might disagree because they think it’s unconstitutional or that it would violate our second amendment. It should because it would lower crime rate, it would limit the ways owners could get ahold of guns, and would drastically limit mass shootings in the U.S. Overall, gun control would help us more than it would hurt us and is crucially needed in moderation. This affects ages across the board, this affects minors because even though they can't legally buy a gun, they should care about it because gun control would also limit mass school shootings, which would make minors feel safe while at school.
