As he began to fall ill , he was forced to look for an heir to the throne before he passed away. His wife had died around AD 136 after an unhappy and childless marriage. He ended up adopting a very well respected senator, named Antoninus Pius, so he would become heir2. Hadrian served as emperor until he dies in AD 138 at the age of 62 after a reign of 21 years. Hadrian was not very well liked by his people while he was alive, but he is still remembered for all the advancement he made to the empire. He is even credited for rebuilding the Pantheon, and transforming Rome and other cities with his architectural design
