Imagine a world where immigrants did not reside in the United States. Who would be living in the United States? How many people would not exist in the United States if immigration did not happen? Would only one race be living in the United States and would they be racist? These are all the questions that people should consider before deporting immigrants who have families resided in the United States. Immigration helps this country economy tremendously, especially in work and labor so why would anyone want the United States to be deprived of money instead of making it,. This is why immigration is good for the United States.

them are immigrants. As Arizaga states, “Around the year 1500, the great European migration began. All of them came full of hopes and dreams of the "Promised Land"(Arizaga).
Meaning that no one is truly an “American” because all of our ancestors originally originated from another country. The only pure “Americans” that reside in the United States are Native Americans because they originated in America first. The only reason why people complain about immigrants is because they feel as if they are threatening the American lifestyle, but in reality Americans are incorporating immigrants cultures and beliefs into their own lifestyles. As this article states, “Because of this, the United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world”(American Culture). America has many different cultures that live within its borders, and those different cultures helped shape America to become a place for people to come and start a new life and be accepted. Also with these different cultures bring different languages, religion, lifestyles, art, and etc. America would not be a welcoming place if there was not a variety of cultures living in the United States, which is what immigrants bring. Immigrants make up a vast majority of the United States population, “The U.S. immigrant population stood at more than 42.4 million, or 13.3 percent, of the total U.S. population of 318.9 million …show more content…
in 2014, according to ACS data. Between 2013 and 2014, the foreign-born population increased by 1 million, or 2.5 percent. Immigrants in the United States and their U.S.-born children now number approximately 81 million people, or 26 percent of the overall U.S. population”(Frequently Requested Statistics on Immigrants and Immigration in the United States). Immigration is steadily increasing day by day, which is causing the United states to grow rapidly economically. Do to the increasing number of immigrants the United States can benefit from this because immigrants bring in more work and labor than the average american does which also means more production is being created.
Immigrants offer many different skill sets then a native born worker, “As the U.S Chamber of Commerce pointed out in a 2013 paper undocumented immigrants generally offer different skill sets than native born workers, meaning they often are not competing for the same jobs”(Planas).
Many Americans believe that immigrants are stealing jobs from them, when in reality most Americans do not have the willpower to get a job and the immigrants see an opportunity for a job and take it. By the time the natives apply for the job it is already taken because they were too late. Americans also say that immigrants do not pay their taxes, “According to a report from The Institute on Taxation & Economic Policy (ITEP), they pay a hefty amount of state and local tax, just like other people living in the United States. Collectively, America’s undocumented immigrants pay an estimated $11.64 billion in state and local taxes every year with at least 50 percent of undocumented immigrant households filing tax returns using Individual Tax Identification Numbers”(Forbes). That $11.64 billion dollars that is taken is from sales and excise taxes, property taxes and personal income taxes, Immigrants pay as much taxes as the average American does if not
more.
There are multiple of reason why immigrants come to america to either seek freedom, poverty, education, or to live better lives for themselves and their children. Many immigrants that rsided in America are Mexicans this reason is because, “In Zitlaltepec, 86 percent of residents are poor and 30 percent live in extreme poverty, the highest rate in the state, Mexico’s fifth poorest. Almost all lack unemployment and retirement benefits”(Gordts). Over half of Mexico’s country is poverty stricken. Many families in Mexico want to find good jobs to get their families from such poor areas and to do that they come the United States. This also leads to the legalization of immigration, one reason why the Government should legalize immigration is because it would boost the economy, “It would add a cumulative $1.5 trillion to the U.S. gross domestic product — the largest measure of economic growth — over 10 years”(ThinkProgress). The more people we have working in the factories, farms, and stores could make the United States more money as the years go by. With this the minimum wages would go up which also lead to higher paying jobs for people and more jobs for the unemployed people. Also by not legalizing immigration states have stricken their immigration laws which have caused that state’s economy to go down. As this article states, “States that have passed stringent immigration measures in an effort to curb the number of undocumented immigrants living in the state have hurt some of their key industries, which are held back due to inadequate access to qualified workers”(ThinkProgress). People do not realize the benefits of having immigrants in their country because the boost many companies up. If we were to deport 11 million people from the United States than our country would lose money, who wants to lose money from deporting people.
On the other hand most people would say immigrants are a disruption to our society, illegal immigrants are the cause of criminal activities they bring drugs into our society and smuggle more people in America to disruption the society even more than they already have. Also immigrants are costing us to pay more taxes, “Illegal immigration costs U.S taxpayers about $113 billion a year at the Federal, State and local level”(Is Illegal immigration an Economic Burden to America). People are paying money for people who aren’t citizens of the United States, these people aren't doing anything for the States accept costing everyone money. The longer they stay the more money we will have to pay for schools, hospitals, police and other necessities.
Yes immigration has its negative effects on the United States but it also has many positive effects. Most people do not realize how much our economy would thrive if we legalized immigration. The United States would produce more money than it ever has.
