Why Is It Important To Spank Children
According to Horton, “4 in 5 Americans believe it’s ‘sometimes appropriate’ to spank a child.” Did you know that two-thirds of American parents spank their children? The spanking cycle of those who spank their children are 73% were spanked as kids and 25% were not spanked. Spanking is an act of slapping on the buttocks as a punishment for children. Spanking is important because it sets a child up for “real life”. Disciplining a child in their life will greatly affect their future. On the other hand, many would say spanking should be
illegal because it has negative effects on behaviors. Also, research shows that “45% of U.S. Catholic readers’ survey believes parents should never spank children” (Clarke24). However, spanking should not be illegal because it helps children to accept responsibility for their wrong doings, teaches self-discipline, and it helps a child learn from a limit that has been set.
