Over the course of the movie Lecter not only kills a number of policemen with no signs of regret but also mutilates a number of their bodies post-mortem. This mutilation includes biting the face off a police officer, putting it over his own, and using the disguise to escape imprisonment. It also includes dismembering a police officer and stringing his body up above Lecter’s holding cell.
