Lyndon Baines Johnson was on the way out of the White House in 1968 and many were vying for the spot to lead the United States of America. He gained support during his time as the U.S. attorney general from multiple minorities all over the country. He supported the end of segregation in schools and enforced the voting rights for blacks.
