Iago showed a lot of jealousy when it came to Othello. Iago: “ I hate the Moor. My cause is hearted; thine hath no less reason. Let us be conjunctive in our revenge against him” (1.3.346-347). The only reason why Iago is jealous of Othello is because Othello over passed him for a lieutenant position. Iago then had an irrational belief that Othello has slept with his wife Emilia which made him hate Othello even more. Iago: “ I hate the Moor; And it is thought abroad that twixt my sheets he’s done my office. I know not if’t be true; But I, for mere suspicion in that kind, will do as if for surety” (1.3.363-367).
