In school we would popcorn read, till this day I am ambiguous on why we needed to popcorn read.
Popcorn reading was over-whelming, boring, and just down right uninteresting! I had the worst class in regards to popcorn reading, once I read my part sleepiness would kick into overdrive. Most students either read too slow or sounded like robots. The worst part was that the teacher would always picks students that could care less about the book, making the reading process even longer. I remember during my 9th grade year one student waved his hand aggressively. He said, “Ms. Thomas can we please read this book on our own?”. Ms. Thomas was enraged. Popcorn reading can be very boring when student are not fully engaged in the
book. The only reading obstacles I faced in my life personally were not reading enough and becoming easily distracted .I have no issue with reading books, just sitting there and actually readings the book for more than 2 chapters is my downfall. In fact, a lot of times when I read a book I find myself imagining the book, rather than actually reading it. A lot of times when I sit down to read books I get a text and my mind automatically looks at my phone. There are times when I can sit down for hours and read. Yet, those times don’t come around too often.
In conclusion, reading helps to expand your knowledge. Since the beginning of college I have begun to see that reading is very important. To me every person that writes novels, high intellect articles, and poems. All have some type of knowledge and high-level-vocabulary from reading. I’ve noticed that you can learn more about the world through reading. Reading is essential to life and without it we would be lost.
