Why Is Soccer Better Than Football
The sport of soccer has been around since ancient civilizations. The first trace of soccer dates way back to around 2,500 BC in Ancient Egypt, with balls made of animal intestines or skin, for better bouncing. Around 2,000 years later, the sport was picked back up again in ancient China, called “Cuju”. Instead of just kicking around a ball, the Chinese decided to make the game more interesting; adding a piece of cloth in between two poles, making a goal box. As time progressed, the sport changed and increased in popularity, as everyone around the world was playing and enjoying soccer. After soccer became popular, a new sport called rugby was invented in mid 1800’s England, based off of soccer. Slowly, rugby turned into the popular game we know now as American football. Although soccer and football are both very highly ranked sports, soccer is a better liked and higher ranked sport than football. …show more content…
Since soccer has been around for so long, its popularity spread all around the world and is currently the number one sport in the world. Whether you are in Brazil, Russia, Bangkok or Belgium, you will find soccer fans just about anywhere. American football is a relatively new sport, only about 200 years old. This is why there are larger sporting events for soccer, such as the FIFA World Cup, held every four years. While football has one huge sporting event, the Super Bowl, which is an American tradition. More countries are starting to be interested in American football. Over summer, I went to London, England for a few weeks. I found there that lots of citizens are very into the NFL and American football, and that they are even hoping to get their own NFL home team.
